Terms and conditions

Stranding is a free citizen-science service, not an emergency, wildlife-rescue, veterinary or guaranteed official-science service. Accounts are available from age 14; beta testers and ambassadors must be 18 or older.

You retain rights in your content and grant Stranding a non-exclusive licence to host, moderate, publish and use it for stated scientific purposes. Approved sightings use precise public coordinates; only administrators may reduce their precision.

Published sightings and photos require a motivated removal request. Closing an account removes identifying data but moves public contributions to the legacy_unclaim archive profile unless separately removed. Moderation decisions can be appealed within 30 days.

Illegal, misleading, abusive, unauthorised, spam, scraping and security-bypass activity is prohibited. AI training requires specific author opt-in.
